POLISH VISA BASED ON PARTICIPATION IN COURSES AT THE POLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE
Do you want to come to Warsaw to start learning Polish at the Polish Language Institute? Do you need a visa?
Below you will find the requirements for documents to be submitted in order to obtain a visa.
List of documents required to submit an application for a visa to participate in language courses (purpose of visa: 11 - when the visa is issued for the purpose of education or in any other form of training)
1) Visa form filled in in the e-konsulat system, printed and signed;
2) A coloured photograph which measures 3.5 x 4.5 cm. The photograph should be:
1. sharp, taken against a white background and printed on high quality paper,
2. not older than 6 months,
3. taken straight on, clearly showing the eyes and face on both sides from the top of the head to the top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70-80% of the photo. Any sort of hat that covers your head must be removed for the photo.
3) Passport issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months from the date of intended return, with a minimum of 2 blank visa pages.
4) A copy of the page in the passport containing personal details and a photo.
5) The applicant for a national visa shall submit in person a document confirming possession of travel medical insurance referred to in Subparagraph 2 of Paragraph 1 of Article 25 (a) or a document confirming possession of health insurance within the meaning of the Act of 27 August 2004 on health care services financed from public funds. Travel medical insurance with a sum insured of not less than 30 000 EUR must be valid for the duration of the foreigner's intended stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland, cover all expenses that may arise during his stay in that territory in connection with the need to return for medical reasons, the need for urgent medical assistance, emergency hospital treatment or death, in which the insurer undertakes to pay the costs of health care services provided to the insured directly to the entity providing such services on the basis of a bill issued by that entity.
6) A copy of an identity document confirming legal residence in the consular district of the post where you are applying for a visa (residence permit defined by local law, applies to persons who are not citizens of the states of residence)
7) Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the costs of living and return travel to the country of origin or residence or transit costs to a third country which will grant entry, and the costs of study. Confirmation of financial resources in the form established by the establishment.
The foreigner must provide financial means to cover all three components for the entire period of visa validity. The cost of living in Poland consists of:
1. A fixed and one-off amount ensuring the possibility of a return journey to the country from which the foreigner arrived, in the amount of:
200 PLN if they arrived from a country neighbouring the Republic of Poland,
500 PLN if they arrived from a European Union country not neighbouring the Republic of Poland, or from a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - a signatory of the agreement on the European Economic Area, or from the Swiss Confederation
2500 PLN if they arrived from a country other than those specified above.
2. Funds covering the costs of living during studies (e.g. a certificate from a student dormitory, an apartment rental contract, etc.).
3. The amount of 701 PLN (or 528 PLN per person if the student will be staying in Poland with his/her family) per month as an amount ensuring that the student will not be entitled to social assistance benefits in Poland.
Documents that can confirm sufficient financial means are:
1) a travellers check;
2) credit card limit certificate from the bank that issued the credit card;
3) a certificate that the foreigner or the person on whom the foreigner is dependent holds a deposit in a bank or a cooperative savings and credit union with its registered office in the territory of the Republic of Poland or in another European Union Member State, a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - a signatory to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation;
4) a document confirming the award of a domestic or foreign scholarship;
5) a certificate of employment and the amount of earnings of the foreigner or the person on whom the foreigner is dependent.
1. Document confirming accommodation (e.g. official invitation or hotel reservation).
2. A certificate of admission to the course or continuation of the course from the course provider.
3. Proof of payment of the fee if he/she is taking or continuing courses on a fee-paying basis.
In addition, visa applications for underage applicants must provide:
- Written, notarized parental(s) consent for visa application. If there is only one custodian, this must be documented by submitting birth certificate, court order granting sole parental authority or death certificate of the other parent;
- Parents' passports - original and copy;
- Birth certificate - original and copy.
If the child is enrolled in the passport of a parent or legal guardian - submit a separate visa application. The visa will be pasted into the passport of the parent or legal guardian.
Remember:
- You must apply for a visa at the diplomatic post whose consular district includes your place of permanent residence.
- As a rule, the documents listed above are sufficient for a decision, but the consul may ask for additional documentation.
- The consul has the right to invite the applicant for an interview in the office, but does not have to do so.
- Type D visas allow you to stay in other Schengen countries for 90 days in any 180-day period. This means that you can stay legally in the Schengen zone only if your stay in the Schengen countries did not exceed 90 days during the last 180 days.
- Type D visa can be issued with a maximum validity period of one year.

- Remember that a visa does not guarantee entry into the territory of Poland - the final decision is always made by the Border Guard.
The application can be submitted not earlier than 6 months before the planned journey but at least 10 days before the journey.
- Decision to issue a visa is issued within 15 working days from the date of making the payment. In case of the necessity to thoroughly check the documents the examination of the application may be extended to 30 days. In urgent and justified cases the decision may be taken within three working days.
